Principles of the Alexander Technique as applied to everyday life and performance. Exercises in Body Mapping offer an accurate and heightened kinesthetic sense. Students gain new perspectives on how to engage in daily activities without strain or injury, thereby enhancing all activities. Throughout, there is a focus on self-discovery, observation, and awareness of practice and performance habits. Explore the connection of the mind and body in movement through the framework of The Alexander Technique. To make music we have to move, right?! As simple as this sounds, we often get in our own way creating excess tension and limiting our creative potential. The Alexander Technique is a therapeutic movement system that helps to identify harmful patterns of thought and movement. Through the use of light physical touch and verbal instruction a teacher helps a student to release and move beyond these restrictive habits. The Alexander Technique can help many (if not any) things including: Release of chronic tension and pain Freedom from addiction Increase motor function Increase athleticism Heightened mental acuity Greater sense of well-being Who Benefits? The Alexander Technique is known for its use in highly refined performance activities such as Music, Dance, Equestrianism, and Theater. However, because the technique teaches us how to exist in our bodies in an easier manner, and because we all exist in a body at all times - everyone can benefit from the technique.
